Larry Jenkins says he’s never been much of an athlete. But he is related to one. Jenkins, who lives in the nation’s capitol, is the great grand nephew of George Poage, who graduated from high school in La Crosse and was America’s first black Olympic medalist. Jenkins says he’ll travel to La Crosse for the city’s dedication of Poage park. Plans are currently underway for a major renovation at the park.
