Milke Prices Could Rise Real Quick

Most of the discussion about a new farm bill in Congress has focused on cuts

in the food stamp program. But milk prices also could take a hit from the indecision by lawmakers.  Westby farmer Darin Von Ruden is president of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, and he can sympathize with people who want less government intrusion in farming:

Von Ruden says old dairy policies from decades ago could take effect again, causing the price of milk in grocery stores to rise by perhaps a dollar a gallon.  He says both the House and Senate farm bills are fair, and it’s ‘not helping anybody’ to delay passage of a compromise bill.
