Mine Legislation Would Bypass Local Control

Right now, Trempealeau county is evaluating rules regarding the surge of frac sand mines that have sprouted up in the county while a moratorium is in place.  Which is a reasonable thing to do, says state rep Chris Danou.  What is not reasonable is what new legislation proposes: taking the regulatory process out of the hands of local government and giving that role to the state

Trempealeau’s moratorium came only after it became the county with the most frac sand mines in either Wisconsin or Minnesota.
