Goose Island Landings Unaffected by Shutdown

There may be some boat landings along the Mississippi River that are closed because of the federal government partial shutdown, but plenty others are open.  Campgrounds supervisor for La Crosse county Mary Kaufman says she’s had concerned hunters and anglers calling her about access to the river through the three boat landings at Goose Island.  Nothing to be concerned about, she says; all access points are open to the public.  And, she reminds the waterbound who may be turned off by boat launch fees up the river a ways in the city of La Crosse, free for users.  The US Fish and Wildlife has closed landings it owns because of the shutdown.
