Judge Rules No One Was Barred From Golatt Murder Trial

Izelia Golatt still has a chance to appeal his murder conviction, but a La Crosse judge has rejected the main reason for his appeal…

Judge Scott Horne is refuting the argument that the La Crosse courthouse was closed to the public at the time jurors reached a verdict last fall. Horne says county employees routinely make sure someone can enter if a court case is going on after hours. Golatt’s appeal attorney says he may check the procedure for himself, but says the judge’s ruling may satisfy the court record. Golatt is serving life in prison for the strangling death of a La Crosse woman.
