Man Dies In Furnace Accident
An industrial accident at Torrance Casting in La Crosse this week has claimed
the life of an area man. La Crosse Police say La Crosse resident, Eric Lecher was found unconscious and head first in a melting furnace at the company around 3:30, Monday morning. Police say he may have been in the furnace for up to an hour.
During the time of the accident, the furnace was turned off and maintenance was being done by the man. Police say the 40 year old was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation and autopsy are being performed.
