Propane Now Fueling Majority of La Crosse Police Squads

Published

Nearly the entire fleet of La Crosse police squads can now run on propane. City cops first tried out switching cars to a dual fuel platform last year. It’s gone well. There’s now eight squads that can run on propane or gasoline. Saves money. At least in the long run, says lieutenant Bob Berndt.   He says, it takes a couple of years to make back the cost of the propane conversion which is around six thousand dollars.  But the conversions can be easily transferred to new squads when the old ones are traded in.

Berndt says two more squads will be converted soon and a propane tank will be installed in the spring to fuel the squads.
