More information will be needed before a trial date can be set for Deandrew Grant, who’s accused of wounding several people this past summer in a downtown La Crosse drive-by shooting.

During a brief hearing Wednesday in La Crosse, the court was told that a doctor, who examined Grant for competency, does not have enough information to diagnose his current condition.

Grant, of La Crosse, faces 29 felony charges stemming from the 3rd Street shooting last June, when he allegedly drove the wrong way and shot seven people, who were standing on the street. Nobody was killed.

The shootings happened shortly after Grant reportedly was attacked in a fight.

The gunfire caused damage to buildings, leading to broken windows at Polito’s Pizza. Police found a gun

Grant was examined recently but, at an October hearing, no conclusion was reached about his state of mind.

An attorney has been appointed since then to represent Grant.

As of late Wednesday morning, no date is set for the next hearing.

Grant remains in the La Crosse County jail.
