Future of new UW-La Crosse science center to be discussed by state lawmakers Monday
Another fall semester is about to start at UW-La Crosse, with classes beginning next week.
And, it’s another fall where the university doesn’t know whether it will get to finish the Prairie Springs Science Center.
The first building of that large project opened five years ago, but plans for the second building have remained on the drawing board since.
UW-L wants to tear down the old Cowley Science Hall, which opened in the 1960s, and replace it with an up-to-date, $93 million facility.
Last March, the state building commission deadlocked for the third time on funding for Prairie Springs since Democrat Tony Evers became Wisconsin’s governor in 2019.
Rep. Jill Billings of La Crosse, who serves on the building commission, said at the time that it’s “disappointing” to see partisan differences prevent the science building and other UW projects from moving forward.
Billings and other state lawmakers have planned a news conference at UW-L on Monday to talk about the future of Prairie Springs.

Is this new science center going to promote the ‘non-binary’ human? Is this new science center going to promote the tiny blue masks? Is this new science center going to promote the mass vaccination of a less than effective and perhaps even dangerous super duper covid vaccine? Is this new science center going to advocate and promote the very flimsy evidence of CO2 driven manmade climate change? If so, then it is not a science center and I don’t know why we as taxpayers have to fund any of it, and it should be called the State Political Propaganda Center…..

No justification exists for spending this amount of taxpayer money on this project. The answer is still “no”.
