John Havlicek joins La Crosse Talk PM on Thursday to discuss some details in the upcoming Wisconsin budget, including his public comments at a Joint Finance Committee hearing, and why the state should accept Medicaid expansion.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

Havlicek has been a Central High School teacher for 25 years and we like to use him on the show as one of our “political blowhard.” Havlicek also recently celebrated his birthday, and he revealed that his fourth-grade hour gave lavish hair care gifts that he will certainly use — probably for his dog.

On the show we talked about his experience at Wednesday’s budget hearing in the Dells, giving his two-minute public comment on education and some of the other things he heard.

We also talked about Wisconsin not accepting Medicaid expansion for the past dozen years and the ramifications from that, as well as some other nuggets withing Gov. Tony Evers budget proposal, which can be seen, in brief, here.

Ended the show quick talking about the La Crosse School District transitioning to standards-based grading.
