UW-La Crosse sets freshmen enrollment record
UW-La Crosse has set a record, with the size of this year’s freshman class.
The campus said 2,325 freshmen enrolled this fall, as of the 10th day of classes — surpassing the fall 2022 record of 2,308.
Overall enrollment at UW-L also saw an uptick, reaching 10,492 students on the 10th day of the fall semester — an increase of 165 students compared to last year. This figure is just 1.6% shy of the university’s record enrollment of 10,664 set in fall 2014.
UW-L also retained 86.7% of its 2023-24 first-year students — the highest retention rate in a decade and among the top three in the past 50 years.
The UW System also commissioned an outside study of finances on 12 of its four-year campuses, and found La Crosse in a good position for growth with stable enrollment.

This is too bad. More students introduced to the cesspool of liberal group think that has become the hall mark of our University System.

Kevin I agree with you. But as a UWL alum that graduated decades ago I have my doubts this is actually a record. I think they restarted the “enrollment record” clock when Gow was hired.
Recall some years ago enrollment was suppressed when UWL admission became more selective. Now they have flipped on the selectivity strategy and as enrollment increases they claim it’s a record.
But as bad as the liberal group think is at UWL, at least these “really dumb kids” (to quote Kamala Harris) won’t be in Madison, where it is worse.
