As I See It

We may be done with Covid, but what if Covid isn’t done with us?

We’re so done with Covid. But what if Covid isn’t done with us? We all have pandemic fatigue, but the pandemic seems to be showing some renewed strength. A new variant called BA.5 is emerging and is now the most dominant strain in the country. But in India and other parts of the world, experts are keeping an eye on another new strain, that appears to be spreading rapidly and is able to get around immunity from previous vaccinations and infections. There is also evidence this virus is stronger and able to bind onto cells more efficiently. What will we do if this is the next big wave of the virus? Probably not much. This wave may fizzle quickly, but it could also become a wave worse than we’ve seen. How will we keep people healthy if that happens? I can’t imagine mandatory mask policies returning given the nation’s Covid fatigue. We’ve run local public health bosses out of town for telling us to mask up. Closing businesses? That apparently is political suicide. We’ve thrown stones at top scientists and doctors and accused them of being part of the problem. Governors are left powerless to act as legislatures tie their hands. Another vaccine? Many are tired of being told to roll up their sleeves. Apparently if there was another big outbreak, we’d be on our own to keep ourselves safe. And it seems that is just the way a lot of people like it.

Another vaccine? The vaccines are deadly killing and injuring millions of people, and they are ineffective also.
