One of La Crosse’s downtown parking ramps should have security cameras in place soon.

The Riverside ramp, south of the La Crosse Center and next to the Pump House, is expected to have cameras installed within the next month.

Parking utility director Greg Elsen tells the city board of public works that cameras have now arrived, following supply and delivery problems.

The Riverside ramp will join the Market Square ramp as being fully equipped with security cameras.

Increasing ramp security was on a wish list of 10 items for improving parking in downtown La Crosse for 2021.

Mayor Mitch Reynolds says increased ramp security was on his wish list.

“I think we should absolutely prioritize security cameras in the ramps,” says Reynolds. “We have a lot of calls for that from the public, and from visitors to our community as well.”
