Repeat offender gets 6 year prison term for handgun threat
A La Crosse man with a history of felony convictions is sentenced to 6 years in federal prison on a loaded weapon charge.
Almondo Baker was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Wednesday for felony possession of a loaded firearm. Baker pled guilty to the charge last month.
He was arrested a year ago this week in La Crosse for reportedly showing a 45-caliber Ruger to another person and making threats.
Police found the gun in Baker’s car, and learned that the gun was reported stolen.
Baker reportedly showed the gun while driving on Liberty Street. Because of past convictions, he was not supposed to possess a loaded firearm.
In 2013, Baker was accused of shooting and wounding three people at a house on Farnam Street. That case was dismissed before it could go to trial.
