Viterbo, St. Mary’s sign credit exchange partnership

Two Catholic colleges in the region have made it legal.  A partnership in academic programs between St. Mary’s of Winona and Viterbo was signed yesterday by the presidents of the two universities. 

The agreement makes it possible for students at each campus to earn credits for certain majors through classes from the other school. 

Viterbo president Glena Temple says this program will give all of those students more choices.

“Our students today want options as they look to jump-start their careers,” said Temple. “We know that St. Mary’s is a quality program with similar missions and similar focuses where students are at the center, and we know they will be supported and thrive.”    

The president of St. Mary’s, Father James Burns, says he was “very pleased” that Viterbo agreed to the partnership.                    

“When we explored potential partners, we immediately looked to Viterbo because of their reputation and dedication to their own mission,” said Burns. “Simply said, this particular partnership makes a lot of sense.”

St. Mary’s will accept credits from certain Viterbo classes in some master’s programs.  In turn, Viterbo will honor credits earned through the Winona school, to qualify for a master’s degree.  The exchange begins in the fall.
