Coulee Council demolition withdrawn

A plan to tear down the former Coulee Council on Addictions building in La Crosse has been withdrawn.

Several people living near the building on West Avenue objected to the proposed demolition, citing concerns about noise, bright lights, and increased traffic if the building was removed, and replaced by added space for the Taco John’s next door.

The owner of the neighboring Taco John’s wanted to remove the former rehab center, in order to put in another drive-up lane and more parking.

The property owner tells the city plan commission he is reassessing what to do with the old building.
