Holmen area county board seat to be filled

If someone in the Holmen area wants to serve on the La Crosse County Board for a year, a seat is opening up.

In the spring, Joe Kovacevich won the 22nd District seat unopposed, but his day job won’t permit him to stay on the board, according to county board chair Monica Kruse.

People wanting to fill the seat until April of 2022 can apply with the county clerk through December 18th.

A new board member will be appointed next month.

In the past, the county has been criticized for not holding a special election for a board vacancy lasting more than a year.
