La Crosse adds 66 COVID-19 cases, Vernon suffers 3rd virus death in past month

Another 66 cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County, while Vernon County confirmed its fourth death — third in the past month — from the virus Monday.

Over the past week, La Crosse has averaged 129 cases a day with a positivity rate of those tested at 31.2%, according to the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard.

Over the weekend, five more county residents were hospitalized, bringing the total to 157.


Here’s a look at data through, most through last weekend (Saturday-Monday), from surrounding counties:
VERNON: 65 new cases (21.4 cases/day past week – 706 total – 197 active – 9 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 101 new cases (37.6 cases/day past week – 1,438 total – 403 active – 8 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 106 new cases (37 cases/day past week – 941 total – 264 active – 10 hospitalized)
MONROE: 97 new cases (39.9 cases/day past week – 1,636 total – 365 active – 5 hospitalized)
BUFFALO: 100 new cases the past week (373 total – 137 active – 38.31% positivity rate past week)
WINONA: 35 new cases Monday (40.4 cases/day past week – 1,721 total – no other info available)
HOUSTON: 14 new cases Monday (14 cases/day past week – 358 total – 2 hospitalized)

Wisconsin: 271,770 cases, 12,939 hospitalizations, 2,329 deaths
Minnesota: 184,788 cases, 11,671 hospitalizations, 2,675 deaths
Iowa: 159,911 cases, 1,872 deaths

Statewide, Wisconsin added 4,360 cases, 100 hospitalizations and 17 deaths. Hospital beds in the state are at 88% capacity with 1,344 of 11,052 open. The state has 2,003 COVID-19 patients — 574 of those on ventilators and 396 in the ICU.

Minnesota added 3,930 cases, 144 hospitalizations and 19 deaths. The state currently has 1,084 COVID-19 patients — 224 in the ICU.

Iowa added 4,327 cases and data shows 27 deaths on Monday. The state saw 166 more hospitalized and currently has 1,135 COVID-19 patients, including 196 in the ICU.
