A Monroe County judge has found probable cause to try a Milwaukee man for a murder that happened this summer in Sparta.

Eric Borges is expected to enter a ‘not guilty’ plea at a November hearing, for the June shooting death of 61-year-old Anthony Koopman.

A second suspect, Michael Hartman, pled ‘not guilty’ earlier this week.

A Milwaukee woman is also charged in the murder, and is awaiting trial.

Koopman was shot on a Sparta street, apparently during a robbery attempt involving drugs.
