Hy-Vee and V-A to start filling empty Valley View mall spaces

Parts of Valley View Mall which have been empty for a while are starting to fill up again.

A Hy-Vee grocery store is being planned for the former Sears store at the mall.

The manager at Valley View, Jeff Odom, says the deal was mainly worked out between Sears and Hy-Vee.

Meanwhile, the original Herbergers store at the mall is being converted into a local V-A clinic.

Odom says construction on the clinic is almost finished, and it should be open early next year.

That would leave only the former Dayton’s and Macy’s storefront vacant, among the anchor store locations in the mall.

Odom says both new tenants will help increase foot traffic at Valley View, and could draw other businesses to the mall area.

The Sears store which closed in November of 2018 was one of the original anchor stores when Valley View opened in 1980.
