Convicted robber in La Crosse now charged with false imprisonment

A La Crosse man recently convicted of armed robbery is now ordered to go to trial for false imprisonment.

Timothy Ellis Junior is accused of preventing a woman from leaving a bedroom at his apartment last month.

The woman apparently made a false claim that Ellis had choked her, so police would come quickly to the apartment.

Ellis was convicted in July of robbing a man at gunpoint in early 2019, and is scheduled to be sentenced in that case later this month.

His brother, Justin Ellis, is serving a prison term for his role in the same robbery.

Judge Gloria Doyle reduced Timothy Ellis’s bond from $10,000 cash to $1000, but has still ordered him to have no contact with the victim in the imprisonment case.
