Santa’s getting a brand new sleigh for La Crosse’s Rotary Lights

It’s still more than 100 days until Thanksgiving weekend, and that should give volunteers for La Crosse’s Rotary Lights plenty of time to finish at least one new attraction for this year’s display.

Santa is getting a new wooden sleigh, which volunteer Terry Slaback of Rotary Lights says will look very much like the old sleigh which is being retired after about 15 years of use.

Construction of the sleigh is happening at the Rotary Lights workshop near the brewery.

The sleigh is normally parked near Santa’s house at the entrance to Riverside Park.

Even though many other public events have been cancelled this year because of COVID-19, Rotary Lights is expected to go on as planned in La Crosse’s Riverside Park at Christmas.

This winter marks the 25th anniversary of the first Rotary Lights festival, and it’s scheduled to start on November 27th.
