For the seventh consecutive day, La Crosse County has new cases of COVID-19.

There were three new cases on Friday, which brings the total to 68. There have been been 15 cases in the past seven days in the county — 12 of those in the past four days.

At one point, in mid-April, the county went 13 days without a single case.

The health department said two of the Friday’s cases are contacts from previous cases. The three new cases are a woman in her 30s and men in their 30s and 50s.

In Trempealeau County, there were six new reported cases of COVID-19. The county now has had 39 total cases with 19 having recovered.

In Minnesota, both Winona and Houston counties reported one more case of the virus. It’s the 81st case for Winona, which has suffered 15 deaths — all from the Sauer Health Care senior-living facility. For Houston, it’s the third-ever case. The other two came April 5 and May 7.

STATE TOTALS
Wisconsin: 20,249 cases, 633 deaths
Minnesota: 26,980 cases, 1,148 deaths
Iowa: 21,196 cases, 593 deaths

Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 357 cases and seven deaths on Friday.

The state has had single-digit deaths in four the past six days.

Minnesota tied its second-highest single day death total with 33. The state has had 33 deaths two other times. The single-day high is 35.

The state also reported 712 new cases, which is the 11th time there have been 700 or more cases — two of those days were in the 800s.

Iowa data showed 11 deaths and 387 new cases, in a 24-hour period beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Iowa had over 600 cases on Thursday for just the fourth time ever. The day before that, data showed just 127 cases.

Iowa’s health department does not report daily case and death counts like Wisconsin and Minnesota, instead updating its website in real time.

Worldwide, there are over 6.7 million cases of the virus and more than 394,887 deaths as a result of it, according to John Hopkins data.

The U.S. has 28 percent of the cases and deaths. Here’s a look at the countries with the most in both categories.
