No new cases in La Crosse, Winona hit with 3 more deaths as Minnesota has highest death count on back-to-back days

It has now been 13 consecutive days that La Crosse County has not had a new confirmed case of COVID-19.

The number remains at 26 with 25 recovered and nobody in the hosptial

Vernon County reported its first case of the virus — a man in his 70s. He has no known exposure to the virus via travel or contact with a confirmed case.

Wisconsin now has five counties with 1 case and six counties still at zero cases.

Trempealeau County reported its second case of the virus. Six other counties have just two cases in the state.  

In Minnesota, Houston County remains one of 17 counties in the state with one confirmed case.

Winona reported three more deaths and another confirmed case. The death toll in Winona is now 13, while total cases there is 62. The Star Tribune reported earlier this week, 10 of those deaths had come from the same senior-living facility.

Minnesota had its highest single-day death toll at 21. Wednesday was the old single-day count at 19. Tuesday’s 17 deaths had tied the state’s second-highest single-day total.

Cases in Minnesota jumped 221 to 2,942. The state, whose governor announced Wednesday that anyone should be able to get a test soon, has tested 51,548. Another 268 were hospitalized today, including 104 in the ICU. Total hospitalizations in Minnesota is 712.

Wisconsin at this point has reported 11 more deaths and 207 more cases. The death toll in Wisconsin is now 257 from 5,052 confirmed cases. The state has conducted 56,508 tests.

In Iowa, there were six more deaths and 176 positive cases today. There have been 96 deaths so far in Iowa from 3,924 confirmed cases.
