Turnout of 15 percent predicted in La Crosse County on Tuesday

The turnout at some La Crosse County polling places in Tuesday’s primary might resemble what you find in little New Hampshire towns.

A three-way race for the state Supreme Court is the only item on the February ballot everywhere in La Crosse County.

The county board elections and the presidential primary will both be April 7, along with the final vote for Supreme Court.

Onalaska voters will narrow a field of candidates for mayor from three to two.

Newly appointed Mayor Kim Smith faces Jim Binash and Terry Bauer in the February primary, to see which two make the April ballot.

County clerk Ginny Dankmeyer expects a 20 percent turnout in Onalaska, and maybe 15 percent in the county overall.
