La Crosse didn’t have its traditional Winter Rec Fest in 2020, but a celebration downtown this weekend could make up for that.

The Downtown Mainstreet Inc., is putting on ‘Winter Days’ beginning Friday night and running through Sunday, with many downtown merchants having special events for customers.

DMI director Robin Moses says having ice skating and snowman-building in Riverside Park will add to the festivities at restaurants and stores.

“We do hope that we can perhaps partner with some other organizations, and have someone kind of take that on to be something special,” said Moses.

Winter Days also coincides with the Boat, Sports and Travel show happening at the La Crosse Center.

The retail open house hours at stores on Friday will run 4-8 p.m.

Winter Days will also include a ‘hot cocktail’ trail at nine different bars and restaurants during the day on Saturday and Sunday.
