Suspect in shooting of officer still jailed, and needs lawyer
The suspect in the August shooting of a La Crosse policeman wants a lower bond to get out of jail.
Allen Kruk said in court Friday that he hopes to spend time with his daughter before his case is resolved.
Kruk is now jailed under a $50,000 cash bond for attempted murder, after firing at La Crosse policeman Dustin Darling in August.
Darling was protected by an armored vest, and he fired at Kruk, who was hospitalized for several days after being shot.
Court commissioner Pat Heim said she would not reduce Kruk’s bond until he is able to get a defense attorney.
Kruk is scheduled back in court on Nov. 22.
Kruk said that based on what he’s been through since the shooting, he never wants to cause pain to others again.
