Trees coming together for canopy

The huge pieces of a new bandshell for Riverside Park are finally coming together. 

Moon Tunes organizer Terry Bauer says workers are getting just the right beams for the canopy, to be made primarily from whole trees. 

But the public won’t see it put up for another month yet.

Installation of the canopy has to wait until reconstruction of the concrete bandstand is finished, so the canopy might not be done until late September. 

Last night’s Moon Tunes concert, as well as all others this summer, was performed on a temporary stage in the park.  

 




A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.

    I dont understand why the drawing does not show the timbers supporting the roof. Can someone tell me ?
