Online liquor sales move ahead in La Crosse
New rules for online liquor sales in La Crosse was given the OK Monday by a city council committee.
The rules are aimed partly at preventing underage buyers from getting alcohol.
Discussion of the plan at previous council meetings caused concern among retailers who would be selling alcohol.
Council president Martin Gaul thinks complaints about the ordinance have been answered.
“When we got into the meat of the discussion last month, it kind of really got into a lot of different areas that had no connection with this whatsoever,” Gaul said.
The ordinance, approved by the administration committee, reportedly would not require anybody, either retailers or police, to take pictures of everybody who comes to a store to pick up an alcohol order.
