The Dancers sculpture is now in storage, awaiting a new paint job

A sculpture that was moved away from the Pump House in La Crosse last week is being stored now at a company in Holmen, as it awaits a makeover.

The “Dancers” sculpture will have the old paint removed by a sand-blasting company, and restoration artist Luke Achterberg will soon repaint the piece.

The metal artwork was displayed on a concrete pedestal in the Pump House parking lot for 17 years, but was removed to free up more space in the lot for events such as this weekend’s Artspire festival.

The pedestal was taken down this week.

After it is re-painted, the sculpture will be installed outside the Weber Center, across the street from its old location.
