Aviation veteran picked as interim director at La Crosse Airport

The La Crosse Regional Airport is losing its director to the airport in Des Moines next month, but a long-time aviation worker is being brought to La Crosse as a temporary director.

The aviation board has approved Robert O’Brien as interim director.

O’Brien lives in southern Wisconsin, and has not worked at La Crosse before, but he has more than 30 years of experience in running airport operations.

O’Brien is scheduled to start in La Crosse in late April, a few days before outgoing airport director Clint Torp departs.

A search has begun for a permanent successor to Torp.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
