Fire at Xcel incinerator being investigated
The Xcel Energy plant on French Island is cleaning up after a fire on Monday afternoon.
Fire was reported at several spots in a processing area where garbage is prepared for incineration.
Plant workers had reported hearing an explosion, followed by ‘a large amount’ of fire.
Nobody was hurt, and smoke had to be ventilated from the fire scene.
The La Crosse fire department is still investigating.
