Process determining what businesses go where in Onalaska could change
The City of Onalaska is seeking public input on how it enforces zoning ordinances or an ordinance, itself.
The city has contracted with HKGI, a planning consultant, to help in re-writing and updating the city’s zoning ordinance, which dictates what kind of businesses are allowed on certain properties.
A listening session has been announced for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the OmniCenter.
Certain topics will be brought up, including how the ordinance can be regulated differently and opportunities to simplify the code.
Zoning inspector Katie Aspenson said the process is about making Onalaska a better place to live.
She added that there are disconnects, at times, between the city and citizens on the zoning requirements and that’s what they want to hear.
She hope to find ways to simplify the process.
