The La Crosse Regional Airport is getting federal money to improve service to other cities.

La Crosse is among 16 cities to receive the ‘small community’ grants, which total almost $10 million.

The DOT grant for La Crosse is $750,000. Among the other cities included in this group of grants are Lincoln, Nebraska; Sioux City, Iowa and Fairbanks, Alaska.

The La Crosse funding is aimed at establishing new, non-stop flight service to eastern cities — possibly New York, Philadelphia or Newark.
