A federal judge calls it the ‘most egregious’ case of mail theft he has ever seen in his courtroom. 

A Cashton man admitted to stealing 5000 pieces of mail in a little over one month as a clerk at the La Crosse post office. 

Justin Cain says a heroin habit led him to steal mail to make money. 

Despite the high volume of thefts, Judge William Conley has given Cain a break…five years on probation. 

The thefts happened during the fall of 2013.
