Bond is set at $25,000 in a La Crosse courtroom for a man accused of sexually assaulting, choking, and threatening to kill his girlfriend.

Gregory Simmons also is accused of false imprisonment, battery and resisting arrest. The 37-year-old is accused of holding his girlfriend prisoner, choking her and threatening to kill her.

The woman made an effort to escape from Simmons by hiding inside a Kwik Trip with help from a store employee.

Judge Scott Horne set the high cash bond, noting that Simmons has several prior cases on his record.

Simmons is jailed on nine separate counts.
