Credit union donation to buy “music features” for park

The new playground for autistic children being built at La Crosse’s Trane Park received a big financial boost.

Altra Federal Credit Union is providing $75,000 for development of the All-Abilities Trane Park project.

The full playground for children and adults with autism, or similar conditions, will cost about $6 million.

Altra CEO Jack Peplinski hopes his company’s gift will set an example, which could lead to similar projects to help people with autism.

The money from Altra will pay for “music feature,” permanent artworks designed as instruments, like drums and xylophones, which will be placed throughout Trane Park.

Similar instruments are located at the Onalaska river landing along Hwy. 35.
