Police say he beat dog, swung him into TV stand

Bryde Jones faces a felony charge in the beating death of his girlfriend’s dog.

The 38-year-old La Crosse man denies swinging or throwing the 12-pound dog but his girlfriend claimed she saw it.

She came downstairs to see the 38-year-old man hitting the dog the couple adopted in June. Jones then told her to go back upstairs or “her kids were going to see what he was doing to the dog,” the criminal complaint read. The girlfriend then saw Jones swing the dog by his leash into a TV stand.

She came downstairs later and found Charlie dead, still attached to his leash.

The woman also said she got a text from Jones in which he wrote about the dog being dead, “hope the bitch suffered…LMAO.”

Jones denies killing the male dog but did admit to police he whipped the chihuahua for biting him and pooping in the house. Jones also told police he doesn’t remember abusing Charlie.

He could get three years in prison if found guilty.
