Squealing tires downtown not great idea when drunk — and with four OWIs

Black River man blew a .17.

It wasn’t a great time to go squealing tires at a stoplight on Main St. in downtown La Crosse.

But Saturday night, that’s just what 37-year-old Jason Pettibone did. For two blocks. With cops right there.

The squealing, however, apparently didn’t stop until the Black River Falls, Wis., man was pulled over at the intersection of Rose Street and Car Street.

And, the squealing – and dangerously changing lanes – ended up being the least of Pettibone’s worries.

Turns out, he was also drunk. Blew a .17. Police said he was stumbling over his words and smelled of alcohol.

Police also found alcohol in the back seat.

Pettibone’s fourth OWI conviction came eight years ago in Sauk County.

He admitted to having four beers at a La Crosse bar and remains in La Crosse County jail.
