Clerk predicts 85-90 percent turnout

It could be one of the biggest elections ever for La Crosse County.

The last presidential election we had 85 percent of the registered voters turn out,” county clerk Ginny Dankmeyer said. “We’ll probably be, again, 85-90 percent of registered voters. We currently have about 78,000 registered voters in La Crosse County.”

Dankmeyer says absentee voting before today reached the 25 percent, which is one of the highest ever in the county. She points out that if you’re in line to vote when the polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the polling place will remain open until everyone in that line has voted.
