A nationwide search is starting to replace the longtime president of Western Technical College.

Lee Rasch has been leading Western for the past 28 years. But that all changes in June of next year, as Rasch announced yesterday he would be resigning.

“We were always part of the history of our community as a technical college,” Rasch said, “but I don’t think we as an integral role as we do today in developing workforce policy and developing economic policy in the region.”

Rasch also marveled at the technology advancements that have changed the direction of education along the way.

“We probably had about 300,000 students go through Western’s doors,” he said. “It’s amazing to think that many people touched Western in one way or another.”

Rasch says he will continue working hard for the college and it’s students until he officially retires.
