Republican party chair hopes to stack county board

Half a dozen republicans ready to run

“All politics is local” is more than a catchphrase in American political discourse, it’s actually what’s going on in La Crosse county board races.

Absolutely, agrees La Crosse county Republican party chair, Bill Feehan, who makes no secret about his desire to stack the county board with republican-leaning members.

It’s something Steve Doyle and the Democratic party has been doing successfully with the board for years, he says.

“When I was there (on the county board),” Feehan said, “I was one of three republicans out of 35 supervisors and, at one time, this was a conservative board.”

Overall, Feehan aims to stop spending decisions like the one that has led to county administration offices to move to a remodeled building at an ever-growing price tag.

Feehan says he’s successfully recruited a half dozen candidates, so far, to run for seats on the board in the spring and there could yet be more.
