City council considers rezoning for construction at tonight’s meeting
A new hotel near the Gundersen Health System has been on back burner status for a while. Starting tonight, the hotel goes straight to the front burner.
A La Crosse city council committee considers a rezoning request that would allow Gundersen to build a hotel and restaurant on a parking lot at South Avenue and Seventh Street. The development is part of larger neighborhood plan finalized last year.
Gundersen hopes to start construction next spring. Anyone can overnight at the hotel but the medical center is building with the intent of providing a place to stay for families of patients.
Few details for the project have been released other than it could be connected to the complex via a skyway.
