Tomah VA Congressional Hearings Today

Published

on

Whistle blowers, insiders and employees will testify today at a
congressional hearing on the Tomah VA opiate abuse scandal. It takes place at 1pm this afternoon at the Cranberry Country Lodge. Congressman Ron Kind will be there. And he says while most of the stories we’ve heard coming out of the VA have been negative, there has been some good done since the first whistleblower report earlier this year came out.
Whistleblowers are set to take the stand to talk about prescription drug abuse at the medical center. A VA report found that patients at the facility were more likely than those at other VA hospitals to receive high doses of narcotics. The report also found a culture of fear among employees that compromised patient care.
