Switch Between Lax County C and Highway 108 Discussed This Week

That century-old hand-cut passage through the hills near Mindoro is now on State Highway 108, but a nearby county road between Mindoro and West Salem is used more heavily. The change in traffic patterns has led the state transportation department to suggest that Highway 108 and County Trunk C be switched on the map. County officials are being offered three million dollars in highway improvement funds to make the swap. The county board has an informational meeting tomorrow night at Melrose-Mindoro High School, to get public comment on the idea. The meeting begins at 6 p-m.
