Vote on Hotel Aid Today
Financial help for a historic rebuild of a an old candy factory gets a vote today in La Crosse city hall. The city’s board of public works votes on whether to provide 750 thousand dollars in financial help to developer Don Weber’s Charmant Hotel project in the old Funke candy factory next to Riverside park. The money is contingent on the hotel being worth nine million dollars by January of 2016 and the hotel creating 50 new jobs and a personal guarantee by Weber. Weber plans to sink about 25 million dollars into the project and is also seeking state financial incentives.
