You’ve heard the expression ‘it takes a village’ to raise a child…

A La Crosse educator and mentor to local young people is challenging community members to help kids outside their own homes. City Council member Dempsey Miller the 3rd received a Martin Luther King Leadership Award at Viterbo last night…and spoke about some of the values that his parents emphasized while raising him.

Miller was honored along with a second award recipient for 2014…Bill Coleman, a pioneering African-American teacher in the La Crosse School District.
