Fravel now facing first-degree murder charges in Kingsbury death in Winona County

Charges in the death of Madeline Kingsbury of Winona have just become more serious.

A grand jury from Winona County is filing new first-degree murder charges against Kingsbury’s former partner, Adam Fravel.

Before now, Fravel had been charged only with second-degree homicide in the woman’s murder earlier this year.

Kingsbury was reported missing in March, after taking her young children to day care in Winona. Following weeks of public searches, police found her remains in June.

Fravel was arrested upon the discovery of those remains. He is scheduled for a court appearance Tuesday on the new charges. Fravel is the father of Kingsbury’s children.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
