Hicke could reach plea agreement in Vondrashek murder

A La Crosse murder case from 2022 could be settled next week, before going to trial.

Attorneys in the Sage Hicke case have told Judge Elliott Levine that a plea agreement may be reached before the scheduled start of a trial on July 31st.

The 19-year-old Hicke is charged with 1st degree homicide and disorderly conduct in the shooting death of 15-year-old Storm Vondrashek outside a 7th Street apartment building on May 22nd, 2022. Hicke’s attorney, Andrew Martinez, argues that Vondrashek and another young man, Jackson Greengrass, had plotted to attack Hicke. Martinez says Hicke fired in self-defense at Vondrashek, and at Greengrass, who was wounded.

Judge Elliott Levine has planned a plea hearing for the 27th, when Hicke might also be sentenced.
