Sale of Olson Center back on council agenda, with roof repairs a top issue

The sale of the Harry J. Olson building could be approved by the La Crosse City Council at its monthly meeting on Thursday.

The Olson senior center and city leaders reached a purchase agreement on the building earlier this year, after a long dispute.

The city is selling the building to the senior center board for a dollar, and a vote is expected at this month’s council meeting because of the urgent need to repair the center’s roof.

The council could also take action on zoning for land on Park Plaza Drive, near the Company Store building.  The city plan commission turned down a request to park recreational vehicles on the lot, and a developer says he wants to build housing on that land.

The council meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
